Why Hiring a Day-of Wedding Coordinator is a Good Idea
I get it. You are an organized, creative person, someone fully capable of envisioning your dream wedding. So you decided to plan your own wedding. Lots of couples decide to go this route and I support it! But if there’s one piece of advice I can offer you, it’s that hiring a day-of coordinator will save you stress and allow you to be fully present on your wedding day.For me, wedding and event planning is a career, one that I am passionate about and find incredibly fulfilling. But I understand that couples are bound to have questions about what it is I do for day-of wedding coordination and I like to be upfront about it.So I came up with a list—and I make a lot of lists—of what exactly a wedding-day coordinator can do for you and why it's a good idea.Vendor and Supplier ManagementWe review your vendor and supplier details to ensure nothing has been overlooked. I’ll introduce myself to the vendors and suppliers, ask pertinent questions you may not have known to ask, familiarize myself with the contracts, and make a list of who is doing what and when.Wedding Day TimelineArmed with the above information I will create a personalized wedding day timeline for you. Everything from your make up and hair call times, to your first dance, to your send off will be coordinated by me behind the scenes so you can focus on tying the knot!Site VisitDuring the final meeting and site visit we go over all the details once more, review floor plans and firm up how you envision the space on your big day. We’ll run through your wedding day timeline and make sure everything is in order.Vendor and Supplier ConfirmationIn the days leading up to your wedding, I will confirm all your vendors and suppliers and be on hand for any last minute issues that may arise.Rehearsal CoordinationLet the festivities begin! Working with you and your officiant, I will guide you and your bridal party through the steps and send you on your way to your rehearsal dinner!I'll be your "stage" managerIn addition to being a point of contact, I’ll also be your stage manager. This means I’ll take responsibility for cuing people and music, and stepping into the reception hall to make sure the cocktails are ready on time before ushering your guests over from the ceremony. Weddings can be a production, so you should work with someone who’s used to balancing all the finer details.Oversee Wedding Day Set Up / Pack UpAllow yourself to be swept away with newly wedded bliss and leave the overseeing of wedding day set up and packup (seating charts, guest book, place cards, wedding favours, candy bar etc.) to me. At the end of the day I’ll manage the vendors and suppliers, oversee clean up and make sure your gifts/personal items are packed away for safekeeping.Wedding Day CoordinationOn your wedding day, I'll be there behind the scenes managing all the details to ensure you start your ‘happily ever after’ on the right foot! I’m here to make sure you get to enjoy the day you so carefully crafted. I love my job and I find the tasks in this list invigorating. I hope this answers some of your questions, but if it doesn’t, or if you want to chat more about it, let’s connect here!
